This disclosure is intended to give you full insight into how and why I run Threadcodes.com, especially relating to the affiliate links which I use in some of my posts!
I started Threadcodes in February 2012, to channel my chronic online shopping addiction into something productive, offering frank reviews and giving other shoppers like me a heads up on the best deals I find online.
After running for a few months without any advertising, I was invited to join the awesome fashion blogger’s affiliate network, rewardStyle. (If you have a fashion or beauty related blog I highly recommend you join. It’s amazing!). RewardStyle is a new company that offers a huge network of affiliate connections with online retailers, all in one place. So, basically, nine times out of ten whatever item I am posting about, there will be an affiliate link available to it within rewardStyle. If a reader clicks on one of those links and buys an item, I will be paid a small commission for the referral. This does not cost the buyer any extra money at all; the commission is paid by the retailer.
I love using rewardStyle because I think it’s a fantastically easy and ethical way to monetize your blog. I get to write exactly as I always would have, but on completing the post I can go in and see if there is any link available to the items I wrote about. If there is, I choose the link with the best deal for the reader (generally I take into consideration both price and the shipping/returns policy of the retailer) and use that.
Recently I also joined the affiliate program for the Aussie online retailer The Iconic, because I love the heck out of them and buy from them a lot. This means that I get paid a small commission for referrals to The Iconic, too; also, I get access to all their discount code releases, which I post on Threadcodes as part of my discount code updates section to help buyers save money.
In operating Threadcodes I am 100% percent committed to the good experience of my visitors, and this means complete honesty, frankness and openness on my part. I will never publish biased or less-than-honest content. I do not allow the thought of money to influence my posts; I always stick to the process of writing the post first, and then going in to see if any of the links at rewardStyle would suit. I will only use links to specific online stores that I use myself and know to have good customer service and a reasonable returns policy (I mean, I can’t guarantee that their customer service will be great for everyone… but what I mean here is that I only link to sites that I shop from myself).
Basically, the point of this disclosure is to let you know that I do earn some income from Threadcodes. It would be difficult to maintain the time and expense in running it if I didn’t. However, I am deeply committed to the integrity of Threadcodes, and your experience on it, before all else. If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to send me an email via the contact page!
