My latest couple of orders from ASOS have been a little uninspiring, and I haven’t really had the motivation to post about them yet. But this one- the ASOS top in loose knit, $30- I think I should post about because I there’s a few little factors that the store pictures can’t convey.
OK. Upsides- love the colour. Like the flowy, drapey nature of the cut, and the subtle reference to the bigger-is-better trend we’re seeing on runways recently. Tomorrow I think I’m going to do a post about the Whistles Peggy Linen top, which I got in the same order and does the same trend in a similar way perfectly.
Downsides- to be fair, one of the ASOS pics did indicate this and I missed it- this is a SUPER WIDE top that kind of flows down from the seam at your elbows. Also, I hate to be picky about a $30 top, but the material is very thin and the hems are unfinished, so I have doubts about how long it would last. You’ve got to appreciate how ASOS churn out affordable interpretations of higher-end trends, but sometimes the quality is missing.
I’m sending it back and keeping the Whistles version; it’s more expensive, but also more durable and better cut.

Hmm it does look kinda awkward!! That’s always a risk with ASOS/online shopping in general though. But at least returns with ASOS is easy!
I know!! I swear I spend so much more at ASOS because I tend to think ‘I can always send it back’…
