Reduced to $32 from $52 on sale at ASOS in red and black, this The Style skirt was so close to being my favourite buy this month, but thankfully I held off on posting about it until it actually arrived!
Pros- Gorgeous, intricate laser cutouts and scallop edge. Cute design. Amazing price.
Cons- The material honestly reminds me of an ultralight tent. It could probably repel water, but it’s not going to flow flatteringly over your body when you wear it. You need to sit the skirt at just the right height above the hips so that it doesn’t look puffy. And then preferably not walk or sit in it.
Overall- SO tempted to keep this because of the awesome price and lovely edging- I could just imagine wearing it in summer with some leather sandals and a light cashmere singlet- instant cute outfit. But I wish they had charged a little more and used nicer material. However pretty a piece looks in theory, if it doesn’t sit well and feel good, it’s not a good investment regardless of price. So I sent mine back.
That’s not to say this skirt wouldn’t suit anyone- bad synthetics is a big peeve of mine, but not everyone feels the same way. Just be weary of the cheap material factor. I’ll update on any better alternatives I find!
